NuvaRing
NuvaRing is a birth control option for women manufactured by Organon. NuvaRing first became available in the United States in July of 2002. Today, it is available in 26 countries and used my more than one million women. It is a small flexible contraceptive ring, about the size of a silver dollar. It is inserted manually into the vagina, where it is left for three weeks. There, a continuous dose of ethinyl estradiol and etonogestrel (a progestin) hormones are released.
Unfortunately, these hormones may cause severe health problems, which include:
- Blood Clots
- Strokes
- Heart Attacks
- Myocardial Infarction
- Cardiovascular Accidents
- Pulmonary Embolism
- Cerebral hemorrhaging
